Abstract

Fungal infections such as Tinea unguium, caused by Trichophyton mentagrophytes, often exacerbated poor hygiene and humid environments, yet butterfly pea leaves offer a safer herbal alternative to antifungal medications, capable of inhibiting fungal growth without the risk of side effects. This study aims to determine the effect of ethanol extract from butterfly pea leaves on inhibiting the growth of Trichophyton mentagrophytes. The research used a true experiment design with a Posttest Only Control Group, consisting of 5 treatments with positive and negative controls, repeated 5 times. The results showed that  ethanol extract of butterfly pea leaves has antifungal properties and can inhibit the growth of Trichophyton mentagrophytes, although it cannot completely eradicate the fungus. Linear Regression analysis yielded a significance of 0.000 (p<α), indicating a significant effect between the two groups. The Minimum Inhibitory Concentration (MIC) was established at 10%, while the Minimum Bacteria Concentration (MBC) was determined at 57.7%.
